Young Epilepsy
Young Epilepsy
Epilepsy can be one of the most frightening, isolating and misunderstood conditions a child can experience. Around one child and young person in every 200 has epilepsy. Sadly for them life is very different from that of the other young people around them. Epilepsy takes its toll on their physical and mental health, as well as impacting their education and social life. Children with epilepsy are missing out on childhood.
With your help, we can change that, and together create a society in which children and young people with epilepsy can thrive and live happy, fulfilled lives.
Young Epilepsy is dedicated to standing up for children and young people with epilepsy. We’re here for them. It is our job to listen and work with them so they can fulfil their potential. We coordinate research that improves diagnosis and treatments. We campaign for children’s rights. We support young people in school and college and provide innovative tools, information, and practical help for living everyday life.
100 Miles in October
Back for its third year, 100 Miles in October is one of our two major events at Young Epilepsy. Last year, almost 1,400 people across the UK undertook walks in every part of the country, raising over £85,000 in the process for our work. Individually, in teams, with family, and with colleagues, a community came together to join #TeamPossible and make a difference.
This year we look forward to welcoming back some veteran hands and new friends, as supporters once again undertake the challenge to complete 100 Miles in October to create a society in which children and young people with epilepsy can thrive and live happy, fulfilled lives.
We love seeing updates from walks all around the country, so please do post, share and update your fundraising pages to inspire other participants and donors with your efforts. Please do tag us in when you post using the handle @YoungEpilepsy and #TeamPossible. We’d also love to invite all of our participants to our facebook group, which you can find here.
