100 miles for Henry 💜
In October, I’m taking on the 100-mile challenge for Young Epilepsy, and honestly, there’s only one reason I’m doing it - my boy.
Six months ago, our whole world changed. We went from being a normal family worrying about normal things, to learning a whole new world that I never even knew existed.
Seizures. Drop attacks. Tonic-clonics. EEGs. Hospital stays. Ambulances. Medication after medication. Constantly counting seizures and constantly wondering what the next day is going to bring.
I’ve watched my little boy have more seizures than any child should ever have to experience. I’ve watched him fall, hurt himself and lose things that other little boys get to take for granted.
And yet somehow, through all of it, Henry still smiles. He still laughs. He still wants to play. He still wants to be a little boy.
That’s what breaks my heart and inspires me all at the same time.
I can’t take his epilepsy away. I can’t stop the seizures for him. I can’t make this journey disappear.
But I can walk.
So throughout October, I’m going to walk 100 miles for Henry and for all the other children and families whose lives have been turned upside down by epilepsy.
It might only be a few miles a day, but every single step will be for my boy.
I’m doing this because I want to turn something that has brought so much fear and heartbreak into something positive. I want to raise awareness, raise money and hopefully help Young Epilepsy support other children and families who are living the life we never expected to be living.
If you can spare anything at all, please sponsor me. Every £1 means more than you know.
100 miles. One month. One very special little boy.
This one is for you Henry. 💜🥹
